Chelsea’s Armando Broja could be set to start against Crystal Palace this weekend, it’s been claimed.
Finally, Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday when they travel across London to Selhurst Park to face Palace.
Graham Potter kickstarted his reign as Chelsea boss before the international break with a 1-1 draw against Red Bull Salzburg, but has had a couple of weeks to settle into his new role at Stamford Bridge.
It’s going to be very interesting for supporters to see his starting line-up in a couple of days time.
Broja to start against Palace
Journalist Simon Phillips has shared information that Broja may be drafted into the XI against Palace.
Phillips told GIVEMSPORT: “He’s very close, I’m surprised he hasn’t had it yet, but he had a small injury, so I think that held him up a bit.
“I’ve been told that he is expected to get the nod in the next game if all things go well between now and then and I think it’ll probably be ahead of Aubameyang, who still has a broken jaw issue, so I think Broja will start against Crystal Palace.”
Broja has made six Chelsea appearances so far this campaign, each of them coming off the bench as a substitute.
The centre-forward did play in Potter’s first game in charge against Salzburg, but it sounds like he could be in line to make his first start under him. It would be the 21-year-old’s first ever start in his senior Chelsea career, too.
Recent reports suggest that Broja’s future at Stamford Bridge may be unclear.
Calciomeracto report that AC Milan are interested in signing Chelsea’s £27million-rated star.
The best way to bury this transfer speculation would be to see the Albania international break into Potter’s best line-up, something he can only do if he gets chances on the the football pitch.
Fans have loved the energy in his cameo performances this season, but he needs a run of starts to show what he can truly do.
There’s no doubt he’s improved tenfold after his loan at Southampton last year, but is he ready to lead the line regularly for the Blues?
