Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has thrown his weight behind making a move for AC Milan star Rafael Leao after being impressed by his ‘incredible’ performance against the Blues in the Champions League. Graham Potter’s men ran out 3-0 winners in Wednesday’s match against the Rossoneri, but the Portugal forward put in an eye-catching performance despite being on the losing side.

Leao has become one of Chelsea’s top targets in recent times with Thomas Tuchel and now Graham Potter keen to add to the club’s forward options. The west London side have struggled in front of goal at times this season and it is an issue that has plagued the team over the past couple of years.
The 23-year-old is seen as one of the men to help ease these issues, coming in to link up with Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and widely rumoured new signing Christopher Nkunku. He has scored four times in ten appearances so far this season, also contributing a further seven assists.
Now, Gabon captain Aubameyang has praised Leao for his performance at Stamford Bridge despite Milan falling to a 3-0 defeat. Leao was arguably the Serie A’s side’s most impressive man, particularly in the first half. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent the three points from remaining in London.
“He’s an incredible player, really impressive,” Aubameyang told Italian outlet TMW after the match. “He’s very fast, powerful, he can make the difference at any time. Nothing else to say except that he is incredible.”
Aubameyang got himself on the scoreboard alongside Reece James and Wesley Fofana as the Blues coasted to a comfortable victory on Wednesday night. The match was particularly poignant for the 33-year-old as he started his career with club, although he made no competitive appearances and moved on to Saint Etienne in 2011, where his career properly took off.
