Disappointment as star not in training and expected to miss Chelsea v AC Milan on Tuesday

Despite Milan lumping a large chunk of their transfer budget on Charles De Ketelaere, the Belgium international has yet to really start going.

The 21-year-old, who was scoring and assisting freely for Club Brugge last season, has just the one assist in his first 12 appearances for the Serie A side.

That includes a start against Chelsea in the Champions League, which the Blues ended up winning 3-0, and there was hope that he could be a part of the team at San Siro in the return fixture.

He played 26 minutes in the 2-0 win over Juventus at the weekend, but the midfielder will not be playing against Graham Potter’s side as news trickled out from Milan’s training on Monday morning.

TuttoMercatoWeb were the first to reveal that De Ketelaere will miss the game against Chelsea, having succumbed to a ‘muscle strain’.

He wasn’t present at training, and the website state he is ‘working out in the gym’, but ‘will not be at the game’ on Tuesday.

This was swiftly backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport, who also state the player is ‘out for the Champions League game against Chelsea’.

This means Potter and co. will now have to plan to face Brahim Diaz instead, who is expected to take over from De Ketelaere.
