Chelsea are in advanced negotiations with Mason Mount to extend his deal at the club. After the recent renewals of Reece James and Armando Broja, the London giants want to lend their attention towards England international and build the project around him.
Mount came through the ranks of Cobham and was considered one of the best talents coming out of the academy. After a spell with Derby County in the Championship under Frank Lampard, Mason became a regular the Chelsea first team.
Frank Lampard gave the 23-year-old attacker a breakthrough at the London club. And the English attacker has not looked back since. With his current contract, signed in 2019, ready to expire in 2024, Chelsea are ready to reward him with a new deal.
The Blues were keen on opening negotiations before the previous campaign ended. However, the uncertainty around the club might have prevented those discussions. However, the Englishman has always been keen to stay at Chelsea, even as some other teams glanced admirably towards him.
Todd Boehly may have made a name by signing some top footballers over the last months. But he also stays hell-bent on retaining a few names. For instance, Reece James and Mason Mount are considered the cornerstone of the project earmarked by the American owner.
With Reece James already penning a new six-year deal, the focus will now be on the attacker to renew terms. The report suggests the Blues are advancing in their efforts to tie the Englishman down to new terms.
