Chelsea are plotting a winter raid on West London neighbours Fulham for midfielder Luke Harris during the winter transfer window. That’s according to a report, which claims Chelsea have already held advanced negotiations over a January move and are set to pay a whopping £30m for Wales international.
Since Todd Boehly’s arrival, Chelsea have made significant efforts to cherry-pick some of the best youngsters around the globe. They snapped up Arsenal’s Omari Hutchinson, Aston Villa’s Carney Chukwuemeka, and Inter Milan’s Cesare Casadei last summer, and look set to continue adding quality to the youth ranks with Potter now at the helm.
Chelsea are already expected to make another bid for Zakharyan, and it now looks like Fulham wonder-kid Harris has also captured the imagination of Todd Boehly & co. The Blues scouts have been monitoring Luke since he struck a hat-trick in an Under-21 meeting between the two West London teams earlier this year.
Luke, who is in Robert Page’s Welsh squad ahead of their Nations League clash with Poland on Saturday night, played his first senior game for the Cottagers with Crawley Town in the EFL Cup last month and is regarded as the next potential superstar at Fulham, following in the footsteps of previous academy products, Carvalho and Elliott.
The Cottagers are well aware of his potential and recently handed Harris his first professional deal earlier this month, tying him down until 2025.
