There has been some media reports which have claimed that Inter Milan defender and long-term Chelsea target Milan Skriniar is open to leaving the Italian giants in the January window.
Chelsea spent a whole load of money in the transfer window adding players to that back-line that would replace a number of stars that departed Stamford Bridge over the summer
However – with rumours in the media circulating that Thiago Silva may be open to leaving the club at the end of the season on a free – it is believed that an immediate replacement will need to be signed by Graham Potter
Skriniar is a player that Chelsea have been linked with for a number of transfer windows – but have never been able to get a deal done as Milan had no intention of letting him depart the club
However – with his contract expiring at the end of the current season – it has been claimed on CalcioMercato that he is now open to leaving the club – and Milan are open to getting a deal done in the January window
And if you believe the words of Reporter Iomie Stanley – he would be a bargain buy for Chelsea.
What has he said?
He told IcFootballnews: ‘ Skriniar has been at the very highest level of the game for some time now – he really is a classy defender.
‘He may not be the quickest or the strangest of defenders – but he has proven over the seasons that he is able to compete with the very best strikers in the game
‘It would normally take around £60 million to sign the defender – so with his contract coming to an end – Chelsea could even get him for as little as £15 million.
‘Barcelona are also interested in Skriniar so it will not be easy for Chelsea to sign him – but they have the funds to compete with the Spanish giants if they truly want a world class defender to replace the ageing Thiago Silva.’
