Agent confirmed: Chelsea renewed talks with 26-year-old super defensive rock

Chelsea will renew their interest in Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, as the new coach, Graham Potter feels the Netherlands international would be a perfect fit for his side. Denzel has received praise from various corners of the world, and a host of teams might be approaching the Nerazzurri if the defender is made available on the market.

Inter Milan’s dire financial condition allowed them to sell Lukaku to Chelsea for quite a hefty sum, but they might need some convincing to send Dumfries the other way. The 26-year-old defender will likely stay in Serie A should a deal be struck and will join the club in the summer of 2023.

The Blues will be willing to quote nearly €50m, and they might have to add a substantial premium depending on his display in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Dutch defender has been primarily used as the right wing-back at San Siro, and he has excelled in that role.

His defensive obligations do make him pretty vulnerable, but he can inflict more damage with his attacking instincts. The Dutchman will match the intensity of the PL, and his innumerable energy will open a new dimension for the English manager who loves to explore new styles in his usual style.

The London giants also brought in Cucurella from Brighton and the arrival of the former PSV defender could allow the Blues to have one of the most fierce wing-back partnerships in England.
