OFFICIALLY : Sporting Director confirms positive talks with Chelsea looking to sign world class super star

Chelsea have reportedly been handed a blow in their pursuit of soon-to-be-out-of-contract defender Milan Skriniar.

It was no secret that Chelsea were desperate to add a number of defenders to that back-line over the course of the summer transfer window – and were heavily linked with a move for Skriniar

Skriniar has made himself one of the very best defenders in the Italian game – but Inter did not want to sell – and would only allow him to leave the club if their £85 million valuation was met – and it obviously was not

However – with the January transfer window just a few months away – The London based club is willing to offer €8 million per year in salary to lure the 27 year-old who is out of contract at the end of the season,

But it now seems that they could miss out on the signing of Skriniar as Inter are confident of tying him down to a new long-term deal.

That’s according to Inter sporting director Beppe Marotta, who thinks the club can reach an agreement over a new deal for the 27-year-old Slovakian defender as they look to fend off outside interest in their prized asset.

“Milan Skriniar’s value is superlative, on and off the field, so I am very optimistic we can reach a conclusion of those negotiations by the World Cup break, so circa November 13. We have some very positive signs.” Marotta said to Sky Italy.
