Official: Chelsea FC key player apart from Recce james and Ngolo kante is now set to miss the world cup due to injury

Chelsea have confirmed that Ben Chilwell is ruled out for the World Cup after suffering a significant hamstring injury against Dinamo Zagreb.

 

The England international picked up the injury during the closing stages of the game and he is now out for the long-term.

In a statement released today, the Blues confirmed that the left-back won’t be involved in this winter’s World Cup finals.

“Following the injury sustained in our recent game against Dinamo Zagreb, Ben has undergone a scan on his hamstring.”

“Results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury and the defender is unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup.”

The news will come as a big blow for the Blues, considering Chilwell has been their most consistent option from left wing-back.

Marc Cucurella has also played there since his arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion, but he has lacked the consistency.

His position has been poor over the past few games. He has a big challenge on his hands when he faces Arsenal tomorrow.
