Chelsea keen on to agree transfer fee for 6 ft 3 Atalanta monster defender to replace aging Thiago Silva

Giorgio Scalvini has emerged on the radar of PL giants Chelsea. U21 Italy international is also the subject of interest from Man City, with Atalanta demanding nearly €20m to part ways with him. Scalvini is one of the most promising young defenders in Italy, with the centre-back coming a long way at Atalanta.

Giorgio spent the initial years of his youth career at Palazzolo and Brescia. But the move to Atalanta has done wonders to his progress. The 18-year-old centre-back graduated to Atalanta’s first-team squad last campaign and made over a dozen games for La Dea.

And his stock has risen further this campaign, as the Italian defender has turned out six times in Serie A. The Italian’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Chelsea and Man City keen on signing him. Chelsea, like Man City, signed defenders in the summer, bringing in Koulibaly and Fofana.

But Koulibaly is on the wrong side of 30, with Thiago Silva in the twilight of his career. In addition, Silva is coy on his Chelsea future, recently revealing that he will take a call by discussing the matter with his family. Giorgio is thus a viable target for the Blues.

Scalvini will not be a costly acquisition for suitors, with Atalanta demanding nearly €20m for him. Meanwhile, in addition to Chelsea and Man City, Roma, Inter Milan, and Juventus also want Giorgio.
