Report: Chelsea have held talks with midfielder who dreams of the Bridge, Graham Potter thinks he’s ‘fantastic & is the missing link in Chelsea midfield’

Chelsea have reportedly progressed their pursuit of Moises Caicedo by opening up transfer talks with Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to the Sunday Mirror (06/11, p78), the Blues seem to be preparing an assault on the Amex for their Ecuador international.

This might be a move championed by Graham Potter, who is certainly well acquainted with the midfielder.

Potter worked with Caicedo for 18-months after overseeing his switch to Brighton in 2021.

It took time for 21-year-old to settle on the South Coast, but this season has certainly seen a vast improvement,

Caicedo is now an established starter for the Seagulls, alongside being one of the Premier League’s sternest enforces.

He ranks eighth overall for tackles made (36) and has only been dribbled past on six occasions.

His enhancement can certainly be owed to Potter, who poured praise upon the player earlier in the campaign.

“He is playing at a fantastic level,” said the current Chelsea manager.

“He is a top kid, a great person, young, playing in the Premier League and has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level.”

Caicedo cares for Chelsea
There is a clear bond between the Caicedo and his former coach, one that was slightly broken when the latter moved to Stamford Bridge in September.

Yet, the pair may well be reunited again if the apparent talks between the Blues and Brighton progress.

Although the man in conversation appears to be enjoying life by the seaside, he has already left the door open for a potential departure.

‘I think they are one of the best teams in the world and nobody would turn down an offer from Chelsea or any other club like that,” admitted Caicedo a couple of months ago.

“It’d be a dream to be in the best teams in the world and succeed there.”

We are all about making dreams come true here at Chelsea.
