Chelsea told to they must do everything possible to beat Liverpool to midfield mastero transfer to solve Graham Potter midfield problem

Chelsea FC have been urged to sign Borussia Dortmund and England youngster Jude Bellingham in the transfer window by former player William Gallas. It comes as Graham Potter faces concerns over his midfield ranks for the future as the size of the rebuild in the central ranks becomes bigger.

That’s due to key duo Jorginho and N’Golo Kante nearing the end of their contracts, which expire next summer with any talks over a renewal yet to reach an advance stage of any kind. There’s also an issue when it comes to general depth in that area, which led to the late loan signing of Denis Zakaria from Juventus.

“I don’t know whether I prefer it,” Potter said when asked about working with young players amid the change in club philosophy. “I think I like it, absolutely, and I think it’s important to have players that understand the club.

“But ultimately if I’m being honest, it’s just the right people and the right attitude and players that want to improve and players that want to have ambition and take the club and their own career forward. And that’s what we want really.”

One of the players that could fit the bill of being a promising young prospect while also filling in the midfield gap is Bellingham, who continues to impress at club and international level. The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to both the Blues and Liverpool, with Gallas claiming his former side should make a switch.

He told Genting Casino: “At the beginning of the season, when Chelsea were linked with players like Frenkie De Jong, I felt they needed a player who is tall, can get from box-to-box, score goals and can be that player. So if Jude Bellingham can join Chelsea, I think it will be great for them.

“He’s already scoring goals for Dortmund. He’s young but his quality is very good, he is the type of player who can be one of the top-class players in future, he’s got everything. If he joins Chelsea it will be great for them.”
