Two quick fire second half goals from Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez put the game beyond doubt early in the second half, after the Blues had kept it competitive for the first 45.

There had even been a number of positives to take from the evening up until that point. Youngster Hall was excelling and Marc Cucurella looked much more like the player Chelsea paid all that money for.

Hall claims finishing could be better
Hall has now claimed that the day could have been even better for him and his club if his finishing had been a bit better last night.

He said: “I was really happy to get in the positions to score and I just need to work on that last bit. It’s something I know I can do better with.

“You don’t really have time to think about it. When you get the chance you’ve got to try and do your best to put it away, and I couldn’t do that. Hopefully I can next time.”

With a performance like last night’s, it is for sure that Hall will be considered again in the future to make a more permanent step up to first team level.

With Ben Chilwell’s injury likely to leave him out for another few months, Cucurella could use some competition, and may well have found it in the young Englishman.
