Chelsea news and transfers LIVE: Chelsea press conference ahead of Newcastle, Dumfries targeted
Good morning and welcome to the football.london live blog for Chelsea on Friday, November 11. The Blues are preparing for their final Premier League fixture before the World Cup break against Newcastle United at St James Park on Saturday evening. The Magpies are arguably the most in-form team in the league, with their last defeat coming on August 31 against Liverpool. Graham Potter will talk to reporters this afternoon ahead of Chelsea’s game in Newcastle. He will likely offer updates on any potential injury news and perhaps some reaction to the inclusion of Raheem Sterling, Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount in the England squad. Rumours are also beginning to heat up regarding possible transfer moves for Chelsea, with a report emerging Denzel Dumfries is a January target for the Blues, while a Bayern Munich defender has hinted over the possibility of exploring his footballing options in a new country. With that said, keep the blog on lock as we bring you all the latest from west London.
Chelsea make Head of Recruitment progress
Graham Potter’s departure from Brighton for Chelsea was not well-received by the majority of Seagulls supporters, as was shown by the reception he received on his return to Amex Stadium in the Premier League, and the Blues don’t look to be finished with Brighton assets.
Prior to Potter’s appointment at Stamford Bridge, Marc Cucurella was the first to trade the South coast for west London in the summer, with Potter joining him a few months later. Moises Caicedo and Leandro Trossard, more so the latter, have also been linked with a possible future move to Chelsea.
However, the latest update regarding a possible departure from Brighton to Chelsea comes in the boardroom regarding Brighton head of recruitment Paul Winstanley. He looks set to join Bruno Saltor, Kyle Macaulay, Ben Roberts, Bjorn Hamberg and Billy Reid, a group Potter brought with him from Brighton immediately after his appointment at Chelsea.

Chelsea’s need for a back-up option in a similar mould to Reece James has once again become evident this season with the explosive wing-back sorely missed over the last month due to an injury.
James picked up the knee issue in the Champions League win at San Siro over AC Milan and is set to be side-lined until after the World Cup, which he was omitted from on Wednesday.
A Caught Offside exclusive, with transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, has revealed that Inter’s Denzel Dumfries, who the Blues have had a long-standing interest in, could be a target for the January window.
The report also stated that Inter would demand over £30million for his services but there is a desperate need at Stamford Bridge to provide Graham Potter with a James alternative.
