Fabrizio Romano: latest news from Stamford bridge ahead of the world cup and the Chelsea owner plans

Any Chelsea fans wanting the club to sack current manager Graham Potter might be disappointed to read the latest report.

Quite simply, it sounds like they might just have to get used to the fact that this is a long-term project, and the new boss is not going to be sacked and will be backed.

The Athletic report that sources have made it clear to them that the club’s new owners’ support for Potter and the long-term project they share is unwavering.

This was apparently communicated to Potter just a few days ago. Not as a vote of confidence, but purely as a reiteration that they are fully behind him and behind the transition phase that the club are currently in.

Chelsea are in a very poor run of form and results, so there will need to be vast improvements when they return from the World Cup break, no matter which way you look at things.
