What’s the latest news involving Nkunku?
According to 90min, Chelsea are confident they have wrapped up a deal for Nkunku and could lure him to west London as soon as January.

The eight-cap France international has a £58million release clause written into his Leipzig contract – which will become active next summer – but the Blues have signalled a willingness to pay more than that immediately to ensure the move is rubber-stamped soon and it would also permit them to spread the fee over a number of years.

It was previously reported that Nkunku has signed a pre-contract agreement and Chelsea see him as a fundamental part of the rebuild at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood that the attacker travelled to the German city of Frankfurt to undergo a medical ahead of a potential move in September.

Potter and co-owner Todd Boehly wanted Nkunku to go through tests as they were keen to steal a march on their rivals, who have also been showing an interest.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Nkunku?
Romano understands that Chelsea will remain cautious until Nkunku signs on the dotted line.

However, the respected Italian journalist believes the switch from Leipzig is close to being formalised and the 25-year-old is keen to head to the capital.
