Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante reportedly hopes to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer.
As it stands, Kante will leave the Blues at the end of this season when his current deal runs out.
The 31-year-old central midfielder is on a massive £290,000-a-week contract, which makes him the third highest earner in the current squad.
He’s been in west London since joining from Leicester City back in 2016, and you could strongly argue he’s been the club’s best and most influential player in that time.
Kante hopes to stay at Chelsea
Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips has reported that Kante now wants to reach an agreement with Chelsea to sign a new contract,
When discussing Kante, Phillips told GiveMeSport: “Kante is happy to stay at Chelsea and he’s hoping he can find an agreement there still, but right now it’s not happening. But they will talk again, I think, before a final decision is made either way.”
La Repubblica claimed in November that Kante was considering leaving Chelsea amid interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.
However, this week’s speculation suggests a change of heart from the Frenchman.
Described as a “world-class player” by Graham Potter, Kante has been the benchmark for quite some time now.
However, his problem with injuries in recent years has been a massive problem and leads supporters to believe he’s on the decline.
- The all-action midfielder has only made two appearances this season due to injury and may be out of action until March.
