Report: Italian club priced out of move for Chelsea player as Chelsea head Coach Graham Potter promised him more game time

AC Milan are very unlikely to succeed in their pursuit of Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech after being priced out of a move by both the London club and the player, according to Calciomercato.

Blues manager Graham Potter was recently confronted with a tough question over Ziyech’s future at Chelsea.

The 29-year-old has obviously struggled for game time in the last few years and Potter had to answer whether the winger’s performance in the 2022 World Cup would have any effect on his spot in the pecking order.

Potter acknowledged the Morocco international’s limited role in the team, but also pointed out that he is aware of the player’s quality.

Ziyech has been linked with a Chelsea exit for quite a while now and Milan have reportedly been the most active in the pursuit,

Previous reports suggest that Milan already tried to sign the former Ajax man last summer.

However, according to Calciomercato, Milan’s chances of signing Ziyech this January are close to zero.

The sums reportedly demanded by Chelsea and the player himself are said to be beyond what Milan are willing to offer.

Ziyech is under contract at Chelsea until 2025, so the club is not exactly under pressure to sell now.

Although if, as the report suggests, Milan could not afford to meet Chelsea and Ziyech’s demands, it is safe to say that there are only a few clubs able to.

If Potter has Ziyech in his plans at Chelsea, this is clearly good news. But otherwise, both Chelsea and Ziyech would have a very limited pool of potential buyers..
